leave letter..

leave letter..

I wrote a note and left it on her desk,
A simple plea for leave for a day.
She read it once, then turned in quiet rest,
And nodded soft, yet nothing more to say.

I thought her silence meant a firm denial,
That my request had faded into air.
I left with doubt that lingered all the while,
Believing she had neither time nor care.

But fate revealed the truth beneath my seat,
A folded note she quietly had placed,
She said my leave had reached the boss’s sheet,
Along with hers, in duty’s careful grace.

She smiled and came with chocolate in hand—
“We sail the same boat,” I now understand.
